A school librarian constantly found Minecraft on the library computers. After being frustrated by constantly removing the game, she finally played it. A funny thing happened. She liked it and began to allow students to play after they had completed their homework.
To help the younger readers, she built a reading tree in the Minecraft theme, and placed items like pickaxes and torches around the library. Students can grab a book and read quietly while sitting in the tree.
What books do students like to read the most? Minecraft strategy handbooks, of course! She purchased several for the library. But good luck finding one, the guides are constantly checked out.
